You Can Do It

An Excerpt from Home and Family Caregiving by Tiffany Tyndall — Part of A.1. Trusting God

If vocational caregiving is something you want to do, then actually doing it will mean that there will be days when you don’t understand some things and so you’ll have to rely on God to help you, direct you, and strengthen you.  Trusting someone means that you might not always know how things are going to turn out, but the one thing you do know is that they aren’t going to hurt you, cheat you, abandon you, or try to destroy you.  God is worthy of our trust, and we can trust him to help us as we attempt to keep our home and family running smoothly even when we encounter bumps in the road.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths” (Proverbs 3: 5–6).

“My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

“Do not be anxious about your life [….] Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.  Are you not of more value than they?  And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? [….] Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.  But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?  Therefore do not be anxious [….] your heavenly Father knows [what] you need [….] But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.  Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow” (Matthew 6:25–34).
