When you blow it (with anything, but especially with parenting our children with grace and wisdom), let yourself start over. Take a second chance card from the draw pile, and go again. Too many of us carry around (out of habit and because that was the example we had) all of the collected wrongs for the day (and our life). We are going to make mistakes. This is what it’s all about. We are mere mortals and will trip up again and again (sorry to ruin the surprise). But we can’t keep holding this against ourselves. We have to learn to let go of our shortcomings and to truly move on as we start again. And again. And again. We must keep trying—because that’s how we get better.
