Be present in the present. Be here. We can do this even if we don’t feel like it or don’t think we’re doing a very good job with it. Enter into this present moment as you would enter a room. Step into it. Take measures to arrive. Waiting around doesn’t do it. It has to involve consciously and deliberately entering. It may involve some effort, but that’s how this life is. Nothing is [usually] easy. Everything involves some level of work. So we can either work at being miserable or work at being less so. Entering the moment helps lessen the misery we may feel because it requires us to touch (both literally and figuratively speaking) the things that make us alive.
