Every time you have a chance to connect with your children (and spouse/co-parent), be purposeful about it. Look them in the eyes with acceptance and great intent. Put a comforting hand on their shoulder. Smile with warmth and genuine friendliness. Make a connection in a way that allows everyone in your home to feel loved and accepted and cherished and special. Even (and especially) during tense or stressful times. Continuing to keep the connection and the affection alive and well in your relationships with your children and spouse/co-parent contributes immensely to growing a healthy and happy family.
