Inch by inch, everything’s a cinch. Have you heard that one? It over-simplifies what it’s like to work one’s way out of anxiety-laden circumstances, but it does rather succinctly sum-up what we need to do nonetheless: keep moving forward. Every little bit counts and helps. Just because you can’t do a lot at once doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do anything at all. Do something. Anything. When it comes to parenting, it can feel like we’re doing all this work that’s getting us nowhere. We can feel boxed in and overwhelmed. But we need to remember that if we just keep going, keep moving, keep working, then eventually it’s all going to work itself out. But our willingness to stay in it is the key. The moment we bail, we fail. I’m not talking about artfully quitting something that needs to be quit. I am talking about unashamedly committing ourselves to our family and our children and our spouse/co-parent. Keep going, little by little.
