When What You’ve Got Is the Real Thing

Many of us have had to go through a lot to get to where we are right now.  When it comes to marriage and parenthood, there’s a whole lot that we personally must do battle with in order to be able to “arrive” at a place where we can say that things are truly good and well-functioning.  (I’m sure that maybe there exists a few people in the history of the world who have not had to struggle much with anything in these areas in order for things to be “good” (kind of like it is with musical and mathematical geniuses—they just are), but I’m not so sure that we can call them anything other than anomalies.  (And then even then, geniuses have their own struggles.))   When what you’ve got is the real thing—whether by happenstance or by much perseverance, we can do three things in response to this realization.

Protect it.  Stand against everything that would seek to destroy what you’ve worked so hard to have.

Be thankful for it.  We are at the mercy of God, each and every one of us.

Enjoy it.  Receive the joy that is your reward for having chosen this path of improved living.

I wish you much peace as you continue forward on this journey of faith and life and learning.
