Here’s the Pastor’s Response

This was sent via email to my husband on Tuesday, 3/27/2018 at 7:16 p.m.  I was carbon-copied.

Here’s what I wrote that prompted this response.

And here’s my drafted but unsent response to the pastor’s response.

Dear [my husband’s name],

I am replying to Tiffany’s email directly to you, because I’m not understanding why I have heard from her twice on the matter and not you.

Most of what I read in the email below is made off of assumptions and conclusions that have been made about things, such as the credentialing process for M__, or the church taking advantage of M__’s willingness to serve, or people leading ministries.  Each of those assumptions and conclusions come from a lack of understanding or knowledge on the specific topic in question.  I am saddened to hear Tiffany write that she thinks we would take advantage of someone in ministry.  From the numerous times we had you and your family in our home I would hope that you have seen a genuine love for others and care for others from us.

If I recall correctly, when you and your family disconnected from [the name of the church], I called and texted you several times, as did T__ [the name of the pastor’s wife] to Tiffany (along with S__ H__ and M__ G__) to let you know that we cared for you and missed you.  My care for you and your family as your pastor still stands, even though I am at a loss to understand the cause of the email below.

I am thankful that you have chosen to continue at [the name of the church], but I do hope that it comes from recognizing the value of being connected to a church family (Hebrews 10:25, 1 Cor. 12:25-27, Acts 4:24) as well as the importance of being able to trust your leadership (Hebrews 13:17).  As I mentioned to you previously, I would always welcome the opportunity to meet with you and talk further.  Please let me know if you desire to do so and I can look to have my assistant help get a date that works for both of our schedules.

Many Blessings,

S__ S__
