Do your best not to yell or to use a harsh-sounding voice. If “pleasant” just isn’t possible, then go neutral even (and especially) when you’re tired. Eventually, you’ll sound pleasant because you are pleasant. But until we get there, we need to consciously not give in to sounding (and being) unpleasant. Why does this matter? Because the sound of our voice sets the tone of our house. And the way we are sets the mood for others. And as hard as it is to get ourselves out of a bad mood, it’s that much more difficult to get our whole family out of a bad mood. So it’s important that we do what we can in this area of sounding and being pleasant (or, at the very least, neutral).
