Our children take many of their cues from us, so if we can keep a pleasant look on our face, it helps them to stay calm and pleasant and happy! Sure, there are times when a “serious” face is needed, and we all certainly need to perfect our own version of “the look”—the face we give to silently communicate disapproval at a situation or a particular behavior. But in general, there is no reason why we can’t just look happy. Our children will feel happy that we’re happy, and this alone creates a positive feeling-tone in our home and helps to propagate feel-good notes in our hearts.
