Consolation Thoughts

Smell the Roses

You are probably familiar with the old adage, “Take time to smell the roses.”  Since this has become pretty much the motto of my life over the course of the past few years, it seems it would be best if I took a break from posting for now.  Because I get my sleep now (all seven to eight hours a night of it!) and strive to take better care of my physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual self now, it is close to impossible to keep up with my writing projects the way that I used to.  I believe a large part of the reason for this is because I have reached a profound breakthrough point in my personal recovery, and I no longer feel the urgent need to fill the void (or soothe the pain) with my writing.  This is very similar to the phenomenon I experienced with my music about 14 years ago—there were some notable things that had happened in my life that “fixed” me—and I no longer needed my music and the songwriting as therapy for my soul.  I had reached a tangible level of wellness that moved me on to the next stage of my life.  A similar thing is happening here and now with my writing.  So in the spirit of applying the adage (“Take time to smell the roses.”) to my life, I will be taking a much enjoyed Sabbatical from the public forum of discourse and thought-sharing so that I can focus on the next stage of my personal development.

I wish you well on your own journey through this life and through your own recovery.  It’s simply awesome once you get to the other side of it!

May you keep going and may God richly bless you.
