An Excerpt from the Afterword of 7 De-Stressing Strategies for Effective Living by Tiffany Tyndall

Some of us are used to living lives with large amounts of stress in it.  We may even thrive on it (or think that we thrive).  But the truth is that we don’t have to operate with stress being a permanent part of lives if we don’t want that to be the case.  We can do something about our stress levels by learning how to better approach stress, deal with stress once we encounter it, and release it if we are already carrying more than we should (which is truly none at all).

Most certainly, it will take time for us to readjust our living patterns to get used to living with less stress and, eventually, no stress.  But if we put our mind to the task, we will be able to accomplish it.  If it’s stressful to think about the work involved in all of this, then try to think of this de-stressing venture as a way to better enjoy life.  Sometimes there’s nothing we can really do about a situation, so the best thing we can do for ourselves is to accept that fact and then move on.  To be happy anyway.  And to find enjoyment some other way besides trying to fix something that will most likely always be broken (like our willingness to allow high volumes of stress through the doors of our life).

If the real problem is that we truly enjoy being stressed out all the time, consider how your body might respond to the load 10 years from now.  Or 30.  Stress-related health problems, relationship problems, and behavior problems are all largely preventable in that it’s the stress that we give access into our lives that’s causing the problems.  When we can learn how to effectively deal with our stress, we can help ourselves to better prevent the preventable stress-related problems in our life.
